Mermaids from around the globe will be gathering at the Sabah International Convention Centre for the ADEX SABAH Mermaid Competition 2023 to showcase their skills and grace. Open to mermaids from all levels and backgrounds, this inclusive competition not only offers participants the opportunity to show what they can do in the water, it will also unify a community that can connect, exchange ideas and inspire one another towards ocean conservation and fostering a sustainable future.

This prestigious event is part of the ADEX SABAH Ocean Partnership Summit, a platform for sharing knowledge, promoting environmental awareness and fostering partnerships for a sustainable future.
The competition will be presided over by a LIVE panel of esteemed judges from renowned freediving organisations such as MFI, PADI, SSI.

Judging criteria:
Contestants will be judged overall based on the following criteria:
1. Mermaid Swimming:
Scored on smoothness, elegance, efficiency, directional control, depth accuracy, and turning ability.
2. Tricks:
Evaluated based on body relaxation, detail of extension, confidence, trick presentation with long pauses, and smooth, efficient transitions.
1. Preliminary Round – PERFORMANCE
Friday, 18 August 2023: 1700 Hrs
- Contestants will display poses in their mermaid attire within the tank, judged on their presentation.
- Three poses must be exhibited within a three-minute (03) time

2. Semi-finals – FLAUNT YOUR FINS
Saturday 19 August 2023: 1800 Hrs
- Each semi-finalist is allocated five (05) minutes for their performance in the
