YOSHI HIRATA / JAPAN

Born in Tokyo in 1955. underwater photographer. In 1974, entered the University of Hawaii Department of Marine Biology. He started diving in the same year and now has 50 years of diving experience. From 1993 to his 2003 he acted as his consultant diving in Mabul Island, Malaysia. There he discovered many new species and was one of the people who made Mabul famous. He moved to Mactan Island in the Philippines in 2003 to continue his marine behavior research. In underwater photography, he has established a novel expression method that has never existed before, and continues to lead the underwater photography art world today. The encounter between Mr. Edward, the president of Nauticam and Yoshi gave birth to Nauticam housing full of passion and concept.
