VALERIE TAYLOR / AUSTRALIA

407

Valerie is a pioneering diver, shark advocate, conservationist and artist. With her husband, Ron, she was the first to film great whites without a cage and made countless shark films, including contributing, famously, to Spielberg’s film, Jaws. She has campaigned tirelessly for the protection of Australia’s wild oceans, islands and reefs, including the Great Barrier Reef before it was given World Heritage status. Valerie was awarded the Order of Australia in 2003 for her conservation efforts.
