Since childhood, the ocean has been Monica’s sanctuary and second home, a place of wonder and belonging. An avid and passionate diver since 1998, she has seen firsthand the devastating decline of coral reefs and marine life, sparking her commitment to protect what remains. Since 2011, Monica has led grassroots education and awareness programs, inspiring coastal indigenous communities in Borneo Sabah to champion ocean conservation. She firmly believes that prioritizing nature is key to sustaining livelihoods and is devoted to preserving the ocean’s beauty and balance for future generations. For Monica, this isn’t just work—it’s her life’s calling.
