Asia’s largest and longest-running dive show, the ADEX announced its decision to single-use plastic free in 2019. It is the first dive show to take such a step towards promoting a plastic-free ocean and environment. The 2019 ADEX show saved over 8,000 single-use plastic bottles from being thrown away. This was achieved in collaboration with Singapore’s Ayer Ayer Project by placing free refillable water stations in the venue.

That same year, the show launched the Ocean Citizen Initiative, a pledge against single-use plastic, which was supported by local ambassadors underwater photographer Aaron Wong, media personality Denise Keller, Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang, and Indian actress Parineeti Chopra. ADEX has made a bold pledge to be completely free of single-use plastic by the year 2021.

Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) was appointed with the honour of “Sustainable Ocean Ambassador” by the Sustainable Ocean Ambassador (SOA), Agricultural and Food Marketing Association for Asia and the Pacific (AFMA) – the inter-government non-profit organization in association with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
