CoralGardening is a non-profit foundation that focusses on protecting and restoring coral reefs. Together with donators, partners and sponsors we build attractive artificial reefs that provide habitat for marine life where we farm corals on. While creating these sculptures gardens with local community and tourists we educate about the ecosystem of coral reefs. Divers can take their diving skills to the next level by placing the sculptures under water, use special designed sculptures to practice their buoyancy skills and join transplanting coral on the sculptures for natural growth.
The aim of CoralGardening is to let local communities benefit from coral reef restoration projects socially, ecologically and financially. CoralGardening experts train local community members to generate an income from eco tourism, while protecting and restoring their reefs.
The CoralGardening Academy also gives presentations and educates people about the importance of coral reefs. We work with local communities, tourists, business and students. With our Sustainable Solutions program we inspire, advice and promote solutions to business and consumers with which anyone can make a positive impact on our ocean.
Coral reefs are some of the most beautiful natural areas!
They are spectacular to see, as if you are entering a different world. You can encounter hundreds of species of fish. From the famous clown fish, turtles, rays, seahorses, nudibranchs to sharks. In addition, you can also see dozens of different species of coral in all shapes and colors.
Coral reefs are vital for people and nature. Unfortunately, coral reefs are threatened worldwide. CoralGardening is committed to the restoration and protection of coral reefs. CoralGardening builds artificial reefs together with tourists and local partners, which are immediately attractive for diving and snorkelling. Sculptures which offer hiding places for fish are created and coral is cultivated on the sculptures. Tourists work together with local artists to build the statues and place them under water. When the structures are under water, coral is transplanted on them to create an artificial reef that grows into a natural reef.
