ALEX SANTOS (PHILIPPINES)
A passionate cave explorer, Alex Santos has trained and certified numerous cave divers. He is a member of the Filipino Cave Divers (FCD), a group of selected individuals with various talents and spacialties aimed at the scientific exploration and study of underwater caves in the Philippines, with a mandate from the government.
BEATRICE RIVOIRA (ITALY)
Beatrice is an italian marine biologist and addicted scuba diver. She has started at the age of 16 following her brother and father's footsteps and never stopped since. Her passion for marine life and scuba diving influenced her study path and, in 2011, she completed her university period with a Master's degree in Marine & Oceanographical biology. .
Simultaneously she continued with her diving career working for many years in some of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterrean Sea (Isola d'Elba and Sardegna) and on the reefs of Pulau Bangka (Indonesia).
BECKY KAGAN SCHOTT (USA)
Becky Kagan Schott is a 5 time Emmy Award-winning underwater cameraman, photographer, and technical scuba Instructor whose work can be seen on major networks including National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and Travel Channel. She specializes in bringing back video from extreme environments including caves, deep wrecks, and under ice. Her experience working in remote locations around the world has earned her a reputation of producing quality images in challenging places.
BEN REYMENANTS (THAILAND)
After spending almost a decade working as the Technical Director for Divers Lodge in Hughada, Egypt, Ben moved to Mexico for a stint of cave exploration, followed by his first Technical Instructor Trainer course in Sydney, Australia. Ben then spent a year in the Maldives, moving to Thailand next and began exploring subterranean cave systems in the south of Thailand. During this time, Ben also founded Blue Label Diving, which has become the premier technical cave training (open circuit and rebreather cave) facilities in Thailand.
BRUCE PATRIDGE (CANADA)
Bruce Partridge started writing software for accounting systems in Fortan in the early 70’s. In 1981, he evaluated the brand new IBM PC XT for use in hospital information systems. After a long career in computing science, Bruce sold his computer consulting firm and retired in 1996. His new diving hobby became a passion as closed circuit rebreather systems for recreational use appeared on the market. Bruce started investigating the design of rebreather electronics and software in the late 1990’s. Shearwater Research Inc. was formed in 2004 to produce a closed circuit rebreather oxygen controller. At the request of customers, standalone dive computers followed and Shearwater now sells dive computers for technical and recreational divers in 70 countries.
DAVID STRIKE (AUSTRALIA)
With a strong background in military, commercial, recreational and technical diving, David Strike authored several hundred articles about diving, is the recipient of the ADEX ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for contributions to Technical Diving, a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York, and co-organiser of the biennial OZTeK Technical Diving Conference.
EDD STOCKDALE (AUSTRALIA)
Edd works as a full-time professional diver teaching technical courses around the globe and joining research expeditions. With more than 4500 dives and 20 years diving, he is an instructor trainer with RAID and TDI along with a writer for training agency courses. Edd is an advocate for the improvement of dive training and all his courses are run above and beyond the standards set down concentrating on key foundational skills to develop better divers.
GIDEON LIEW (SINGAPORE)
Gideon Liew has been diving since 1984 and is passionate about scuba diving. He began his experience just like most divers, being in awe of diverse environments available in South East Asia from pristine reefs to mysterious wrecks. His love of the sport drove him to seek out a career in the diving industry in 1994, working with different dive stores and resort operations in the region. He developed his experience diving frequently as a guide as well as teaching divers from island bases to live-aboard boats
PAUL TOOMER (UK)
After living in South Africa for 23 years, Paul Toomer discovered diving in the cold waters of Southern England. Paul has worked as an instructor and instructor-trainer for PADI, IANTD, TDI, SSI and now RAID, to name but a few. In 2007, he decided to concentrate purely on technical diver training and expeditions, and Diving Matrix Tec Lab was born. Tec Lab is innovative in its design and philosophy and sets the benchmark for advanced diver training. Paul now has the role of Director of Diver Training at RAID International.
RANDY THORNTON (USA)
Randy Thornton, owner of Dive Addicts and SubGravity has been actively diving rebreathers for 25 years. A TDI Instructor Trainer Evaluator, as well as a member of the TDI Training Advisory Panel, Randy enjoys teaching all levels of scuba diving from beginning students through CCR Advanced Mixed Gas and CCR Cave. Randy’s real passion is cave and wreck diving and he is actively exploring several new projects in Florida, Mexico and Utah. Randy is also the founder of TEKDiveUSA.
RICHIE KOHLER (USA)
Richie Kohler is a filmmaker, author and explorer. The subject of the best-selling book, “Shadow Divers” the New York Times bestseller is soon to be a major motion picture by Universal Studios. Host of the popular History Channel program “Deep Sea Detectives”, Kohler has produced numerous other television programs detailing his explorations on some of the most famous shipwrecks in the world, including the Andrea Doria, RMS Titanic, and the HMHS Britannic. Kohler has worked on film projects for Paramount Pictures, CBS, PBS/NOVA, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Universal Studios.
SHAFRAZ NAEEM (MALDIVES)
Shafraz Naeem, known to everyone as “Shaff”, is an ex-military dive instructor, an award-winning underwater photographer and is thewho started his diving career in 1994. He has extensive knowledge of diving all over the Maldives.
SIMON PRIDMORE (UK)
Simon Pridmore is a frequent speaker at our Tekdive conferences. He was a pioneer of mixed-gas deep diving in Asia and previously owned IANTD franchises in Micronesia and the UK. He is now a best-selling author of books for scuba divers that include, "Scuba Confidential," "Scuba Professional" and "Scuba Fundamental”
THOMAS DEDERICHS (GERMANY)
Thomas Dederichs is the President of OMS – Ocean Management Systems, and the CEO and Founder of BtS EUROPA AG. He has been diving for more than 35 years and has clocked more than 2000 dives. He has over 10 years of experience as a TDI Inspiration Instructor and TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor Trainer. He is also qualified as a GUE Fundamentals Instructor, GUE Cave II diver as well as PADI OWSI. Furthermore, Thomas led a Dive & Travel adventure team to explore wrecks in the Irish Sea.
WU LIXIN (CHINA)
Asian Diver Filed Editor for China, Wu Li Xin is a tek diver and professional underwater photographer who has many accolades under his name, such as the silver award for macro photography at the 11th World Underwater Photography Championships. Besides being an avid underwater explorer, Wu is also a contract photographer with Chinese National Geography, as well as a member of the China Artistic Photography Academy.
